DM Mthimunye
Mr. Daniel Martin Mthimunye, was born in 1948 on the 12th of May to
Mr. Benjamin and Mrs. Selinah Mthimunye. He spent his early years in Wattville.
Upon finishing his junior and senior education, he pursued tertiary studies at St Charles Teachers Training in Kwa-Zulu Natal, where he obtained his teaching qualification. He began working as a teacher at Lesabe Higher Primary School, in Wattville.
He left his teaching career to join the private sector in a management role, where he made significant impact.
Due to his civil citizenry, demonstrated commitment to civic engagements, the Daveyton community elected him as ward councillor. Recognised for his strong leadership abilities, he subsequently served as Deputy Mayor and then Mayor of Daveyton. Following the amalgamation of greater Benoni, he was elected as the Mayor of Greater Benoni.
After completing his service as Mayor of Greater Benoni, he ventured into business and farming until his unexpected death.
During his lifetime he met his lovely wife Daphne, ngwana wa ga Maaka. They fell in love and got married in 1972. They were blessed with three children: Leeto Dada Mthimunye “mfana wam”, Naledi “the apple of his eye” and Katlego “iNtombikayise”. He was later blessed with a son-in-law, Shumbuzo, who also became his favourite “umfana githi”. His love and affection for his family was profound.
